I almost though this was an insect stuck in amber before I looked at it properly. Very fine detail here, frankly I wish I could do this sort of photography but have never got good at the really small stuff.

Oh, thank you! Does your camera have a macro function, or do you have a macro lens?

Well, I used to have a proper macro lens, A canon 60mm one but sadly that got stolen. I now make do with a 50mm one with a 1.3x diopter and a cumbersome 70-300 sigma which is frankly not that good.

With all that said, I am impressed by your ability to shoot something that moves so fast and is s temperamental. What lens do you use?

Oh, that's really upsetting. I sort of wish I had a zoom of 300 though, my telephoto is only an 18-250.

Thank you very much :) it's all about patience. And bees are actually quite calm, if you move slowly and quietly. That being said, I generally keep the camera between my hand and the bee... or the spider... or whatever. The main issue is that in such a small space, movement is much more exaggerated, which makes windy days a challenge :P I use a Canon 52mm macro, which can take standard pictures but is also good up to like 5mm away from the subject or some crazy shit like that.

Well at 300 that lens isn't great, it is very sharp at around 125ish but at 300 it gets a little fuzzy so it isn't all that useful.

One day, when I have money I would love a 65mm-mpe. Some of the shots I have seen taken with that lens are incredible.

I simply use a textlayer with my name and place it somewhere on the picture (with photoshop)
but its always depending on the editing software you use ;)

Ah, okay. I don't have Photoshop, I have Lightroom, so I'll see if it has a similar function.
